Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 9, 2026  |  Last Updated: May 9, 2026

CareerClutch ("we", "our", "us") is an AI-powered interview preparation app designed for job seekers. We take your privacy seriously — especially because you trust us with sensitive career data like resumes and interview answers.

🔒 TL;DR — Our Core Privacy Promise

Your resume is anonymized before AI processing. Voice and video data are processed for feedback and not retained on our servers. We never sell your data. Period.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. This is used for authentication and to personalize your experience. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account.

Resume Data

When you upload or paste a resume for optimization, the text is processed on your device. Before any AI analysis, our on-device PII scrubber removes personal identifiers including:

  • Full name, email address, phone number
  • Home address, Aadhaar number, PAN number
  • LinkedIn/GitHub URLs, date of birth
  • Family details (S/o, D/o, Father's/Mother's name)

Only the anonymized professional content (skills, experience, education) is sent to our AI provider for analysis. Your original resume content is stored on your device and synced to our cloud database (Supabase) for cross-device access.

Interview Data

Your interview answers, scores, and performance metrics are stored locally on your device and synced to our cloud database (Supabase) for cross-device access. This data is associated with your account ID, not your personal identity.

Camera & Microphone

CareerClutch requests camera and microphone permissions for the following features:

PermissionFeatureHow It's Used
MICROPHONEVoice Interview ModeAudio is recorded during practice and sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) for transcription, scoring, and feedback. Audio is processed and not retained by Gemini per their API terms. We do not store audio recordings on our servers.
CAMERAVideo Interview ModeVideo frames are sampled during practice and sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) for body language analysis (eye contact, posture, expressions). Frames are processed for analysis and not retained. We do not store video recordings on our servers.

⚡ Voice and video are processed ephemerally.

Recordings are sent to Gemini only for the duration of the analysis call, and neither Gemini nor we retain the raw audio or video afterward. Only the resulting feedback (text scores, suggestions) is saved to your account.

Usage & Analytics

We collect anonymized usage data through Firebase Analytics to improve the app. This includes: features used, session duration, crash reports, and device type. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

Push Notifications

If you opt in to notifications, we collect a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token to deliver practice reminders and updates. You can opt out anytime through device settings or in-app preferences.
