Privacy Policy

CareerClutch ("we", "us", "our") operates the CareerClutch mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, why we collect it, how we handle it, and the rights you have over it.

1. The data we collect

1.1 Account data (only if you sign in)

When you choose to back up your progress, we collect your email address and a password hash via Supabase Auth. The app is designed to work fully anonymously — you only need to create an account if you want cross-device sync.

1.2 Practice data

Resumes, job descriptions, mock-interview answers, scores, reports, notification history, gamification state (XP, streak, badges), and dimension averages are stored locally on your device. If you sign in, this data is synced to our Supabase backend.

1.3 Usage and device data

We collect anonymized usage events (e.g. interview completed, resume optimized, upgrade started) and crash logs via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to improve the app. We do not link these to your identity.

2. How AI processing works (and what we strip first)

CareerClutch uses Google Gemini for question generation, answer scoring, resume optimization, and audio/video analysis. Before any text leaves your device, our PiiScrubber removes personally identifiable information — names, email addresses, phone numbers, and LinkedIn URLs are replaced with placeholder tokens. After Gemini returns its result, the original values are restored locally on your device. Your raw PII never reaches the AI provider.

Voice-mode audio recordings are uploaded to Gemini for transcription, spoken-English analysis, and scoring; they are not retained on our servers after the request completes. Video-mode recordings are processed locally to extract key frames, which are then sent as base64 to Gemini for body-language analysis.

3. How we use your data

• To provide the Service — generate questions, score answers, optimize resumes, render reports.
• To sync your practice history across devices when you sign in.
• To improve product quality via aggregated, anonymized analytics.
• To send you transactional and (with your consent) promotional notifications.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your practice content to train AI models.

4. Third parties

• Google Gemini — AI processing (PII-scrubbed inputs).
• Supabase — authentication and cloud database.
• Firebase (Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics) — push notifications and aggregated diagnostics.
• Google Play Billing — in-app subscriptions on Android.
• Dodo Payments — subscriptions purchased through this website.

5. Data retention

Practice data is retained as long as your account is active. Deleting your account from the app's Settings removes your profile, interviews, resumes, and reports from our Supabase database. Analytics data is retained per Firebase's defaults.

6. Your rights

• Access, export, or delete your data from in-app Settings.
• Withdraw consent for promotional messages at any time.
• Sign out at any time — local data is preserved so returning users keep their history.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app and on this page.
